Trocaire College seeks qualified students who are able to benefit from the educational opportunities available at the College. Qualified students are admitted without regard to actual or perceived, race, color, creed, religion, religious practice, national origin, ethnic group, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, age, marital status, military status, veteran status, disability, domestic violence victim status, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by New York State and/or federal non-discrimination laws.
Definitions:
1st Time Freshman: Applicants coming directly from high school or who have no previous college experience (high school students who are dual-enrolled in college courses while attending high school or have other pre-collegiate enrollment experience while in high school).
Transfer Students: Applicants transferring from an outside college/university(s).
Program Change: Currently enrolled Trocaire students requesting change to a different Trocaire program.
Readmission: Students who have not been enrolled at Trocaire College for two or more semesters (excluding summer) or have attended another college
Candidates for admission to the College must meet one of the criteria below:

Program Specific Requirements | Many programs require different or additional requirements . Students should speak to an Admissions Counselor or to a Program Director prior to registration to ensure they understand the academic requirements and technical standards required for advancement in the program of their choice. Specific program admissions requirements are located on the Admissions program specific requirements portion of the catalog. |
*Alternate High School Equivalencies:
Students who did not complete four years of high school have the following high school equivalency (HSE) options:
High School Equivalency Diploma: a passing score of 145 or is equivalent on the general comprehensive examination for the state high school equivalency diploma.
Home School Program: Completion of an approved homeschool program. Must submit a letter from the Superintendent of the school district in which the student resides, or other written documentation from the collaborating school district, attesting to the student’s completion of a program of home instruction that is the substantial equivalent of a four-year high school program and which meets the requirements set forth in the Requirements of the NYS Commissioner of Education and the Rules of the Board of Regents.
Earned Degree: Official verification of having earned a degree (Associate or Bachelor) from an accredited college or university.
Prior College: Successful completion, as verified by the degree-granting institution, of 24 semester hours as a recognized candidate for a college-level degree distributed as follows;
6 semester hours or the equivalent in English language arts, including writing, speaking and reading (literature);
3 semester hours or the equivalent in mathematics;
3 semester hours or the equivalent in natural sciences;
3 semester hours or the equivalent in social sciences;
3 semester hours or the equivalent in humanities;
and 6 semester hours or the equivalent in any other courses within the registered degree or certificate program, all as verified by the institution conferring the degree.
Other: Evidence of having passed five Regents examinations in the subjects listed in 8 NYCRR Section 3.47(a)(2)(ii)(f): the Regents Comprehensive Examination in English, the Regents examination in Mathematics, the Regents examination in United States History and Government, a Regents examination in Science, and the Regents examination in Global History and Geography.
Course Placement
Prospective students, without a conferred AAS college level degree or above, will be evaluated for course placement based on competency levels in reading, writing, and mathematics. Unless the following criteria are met, students will be placed into developmental coursework as appropriate.
Students achieving the following minimum scores will be exempt from being placed into developmental coursework.

Developmental Courses
Students placed into two or more of the following developmental courses will be required to take GS102 College Success whose course topics include Academic Success, Career Exploration, and Life Skills:. EN095, EN099, MA099, BIO105.

Application Decision
Trocaire maintains a rolling admissions policy, and thus, applications are processed throughout the calendar year. However, some programs maintain different application deadlines as outlined on the program specific admissions requirement section of the catalog.
Students will be notified of their application status after all of the admission requirements have been completed and a decision has been made. Applicants are responsible for confirming all forms are completed and forwarded to Info@Trocaire.edu. Applications and all supporting credentials become the property of Trocaire College and will not be returned to the applicant.
Applicants are fully responsible for the accuracy and veracity of all information provided to the college.
Readmission
Students who have not been enrolled at Trocaire College for two or more semesters (excluding summer) or have attended another college and wish to return to continue their education at Trocaire, must apply for re-admission. All new transcripts since original application are required for students who reapply.
Student Enrollment Status
Matriculated student: A matriculated student has filed an application for a degree or certificate program, has been officially accepted, and has course registration for the specific term in which the student has been accepted. Matriculated status is terminated by graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal. Matriculated students may attend on a full-time or part-time basis.
Non-matriculated student: A non-matriculated student is enrolled in a maximum of two unique credit bearing courses but has not been admitted to a degree or certificate program within the College.
Full-time students: carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
Part-time students: carry fewer than 12 credit hours per semester.
